The New England Patriots have given very little information for fantasy owners over the course of the three first preseason games, as the starting lineup of Brady, Welker, Hernandez, Lloyd and Gronkowski has spent little time together as a unit.
According to Boston Globe beat writer Greg Bedard, Aaron Hernandez has emerged as Brady’s number one receiver in practices and could be in line for a big season. Bedard writes: “Aaron Hernandez has ascended to Brady’s No. 1 option, with Wes Welker next, and then Rob Gronkowski depending on matchups. Brady looks incomplete when Welker isn’t in the lineup, like Friday night.”
Hernandez had an excellent 2011 season in which he caught 79 balls for 910 yards and seven touchdowns. He may not catch as many touchdowns as Gronkowski this season, however, the third year tight end from Florida is in line for a huge season and could post his first double-digit TD season of his young career.
At his current ranking of 63rd overall on our Kramerica Sports 2012 Fantasy Football Top 200 Rankings, Hernandez may actually be a getter value than early round picks Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski.
