Perennial top five pick Adrian Peterson appears to be on pace to play week one against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to a report on ESPN1500, head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters that AP is looking like he could be ready for the start of the season after suffering a season ending knee injury late in 2011.
There have been other reports on CBSsports.com stating that Peterson has been able to run well on his surgically repaired left knee, including allegedly beating out fellow Viking Percy Harvin in a foot race.
We can only hope that Peterson will be ready to play this season, however, from a fantasy perspective in seems prudent to use a top five pick on a healthy back like Arian Foster or LeSean McCoy.
As of the date of publication, Adrian Peterson has fallen to number 21 on Mock Draft Central’s average ADP. His late second round average draft position is somewhat of an indictment on how fantasy owners are not buying his quick return to form.
