Jerry Jones informed us today that it is “not impossible” that Jason Witten suits up and plays against the Cowboys on Wednesday. Now, I am not a psych major, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but when an owner uses a double negative to describe the status of a player, it is not good news.
As far as the fantasy football community is concerned, this should serve as confirmation that you need to look else where for week one starter at tight end. The best case scenario seems to be limited action, a situation will not allow Witten to produce top 12 tight end stats. Options to consider for week one include: Kyle Rudolph(vs Jacksonville), Jared Cook (vs New England), and Coby Fleener (@ Chicago). I even prefer the injured Dustin Keller (vs Buffalo) this week to Witten, as he seems to be on track to start and play his usual role in the offense.
While Witten is not worth a start this week, even if he suits up, you should hang onto the pro bowler, as he is a top 10 option when healthy.
