The Patriots are throwing the ball all over the field these days (Tom Brady set a career high with 58 pass attempts last week and has thrown more passes through six weeks than in any of his previous 9 seasons), andBrandon Lloyd is leading all New England pass catchers in offensive snaps played. Lloyd was on the field for over 94% of the Patriots offensive plays … 94!
Brady hasn’t looked Lloyd’s way early in games, but as the team attempts to mount a comeback or hold onto a league, Lloyd has been a favorite target. The newest Patriot is averaging 3.7 catches for 51 yards in wins and 7.7 catches for 82.7 yards in losses. I remain optimistic on Lloyd’s upside, as all statistical signs are pointing in the right direction. He will be a good buy low candidate when his bye week (week 9) occurs, as his schedule going forward is anything but intimidating and the Pats are going to continue to rank in the top five in the NFL in pass attempts.
Warning: The Patriots face two of the three best defenses (Jets and Rams) against fantasy receivers prior to their bye week. It may get worse before it gets better, but you need to display patience with Lloyd.
