With a lackluster performance by James Starks so far this training camp and the off-season departure of Ryan Grant, the Green Bay Packers appeared to be thin at running back entering the 2012 season.
To address this issue, the Packers are reportedly close to signing veteran running back Cedric Benson. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com, Benson is in Green Bay to meet with the team and is expected to sign.
Benson, a former college star from the University of Texas, racked up three straight 1000 yard seasons with the Bengals after three disappointing seasons with the Bears to start his career.
From a fantasy perspective, Benson’s value will skyrocket if he does in fact sign with the Pack. He may not rush for 100 yards, however, he would likely be a lock to score 10 TD’s in the high-powered Green Bay offense
