The Jets All-Pro corner had an MRI this morning that revealed a torn ACL, an injury that will sidelineDarrelle Revis for the remainder of the 2012-2013 season.
Needless to say, this ups the fantasy value of every offensive player opposing the Jets. The most clear beneficiary are teams top receivers (Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, and Wes Welker in the next month) as they will not make the trip out to Revis Island. But the impact goes further, as the run defense figures to suffer. Before the injury, Rex Ryan was able to use exotic blitz schemes and leave Revis by himself on the teams most dangerous offensive weapon. That won’t be the case any more, so I expect to see less defenders in the box, good news for Frank Gore and the two headed monster of Arian Foster/Ben Tate in the next two weeks.
The Colts lost their franchise player due to injury (Peyton Manning) and proceeded to suffer through a long and painful season, and while Revis plays defense, his value isn’t that much different from the games top signal callers.
