Elite receivers hurting

Elite receivers hurting

Oct 11, 2012

Greg Jennings and Hakeem Nicks have yet to practice this week and are considered to be questionable at best for this weekend. Both receivers face elite defenses (Texans and 49ers respectively), meaning that their fantasy owners should once again make backup plans.

James Jones and Domenik Hixon are the replacements to target if you want their direct substitute, but there are a few names to search the waiver wire for. Brandon Stokley and Robert Meachem had nice performances last week and deserve at least some consideration this week. Mario Manningham is also a player who could be available who has been targeted more of late in the red zone.

I am worried about Jennings’ nagging groin injury slightly more than Nicks’ combination of injuries, as Nicks has shown the ability to play through his injuries. Jennings has remained sidelined, and will need to prove his health to me before I am confident in starting him.

Speaking of pass catchers in Green Bay, we are nearing a serious buy low opportunity on Jordy Nelson. After this week (a nationally televised game against the Texans), the Packers schedule lightens a bit, something that should directly affect Nelson.
