Eric Decker’s fantasy value

Eric Decker’s fantasy value

Aug 27, 2012

It’s been an argument ever sinePeyton Manning was moved to Denver: which receiver will become his favorite?

During the all important 3rd preseason game, it was clearly Eric Decker, as he hauled in two early scores against the elite San Francisco defense. The preseason statistics are nice, but they are only reinforcing what we thought when Manning signed in Denver. Demaryius Thomas (6’3″ 230 pounds) is the more physically gifted of the two wide outs, but Manning has never had a pass catcher like that. He is much more comfortable with the chain moving, possession receiver that Decker is.

Manning looked like the 4 time MVP last night (10/12 122 yards 2 TD), meaning that both his receivers will have plenty of value this season. Decker is the better option in PPR leagues (I’m projecting a catch total in the range of 85) as his figures to serve as a safety blanket for Manning. If the cards all fall right, Decker could be a poor mans Wes Welker this season, extreme value for where he is being drafted.

Trending: The Broncos play 5 games against teams that ranked in the bottom 5 in 2011 in terms of TD’s given up through the air.

I’ll bet this all changes once the regular season starts. Manning will mix it up a little more and may even use some quick passes to his backs more often tan not…
