The Washington Redskins lost more than just the game against the Giants on Sunday, as starting tight end Fred Davis suffered a torn achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the 2012 season.
Davis came up lame on a non-contact play in the first quarter and limped off the field in obvious pain. According to a report on CBSsports.com, Mike Shanahan told reporters after the game that Davis will likely go on IR.
Davis, a former second round pick in the 2008 draft from the University of Southern California, has been Robert Griffin III’s most reliable target this season with 23 catches for 312 yards.
Logan Paulsen and Niles Paul will carry the load at tight end going forward.
