Expect Greg Jennings to suit up

Sep 23, 2012

Greg Jennings missed the Packers win against the Bears last Thursday due to a groin injury, and has been hampered by the injury in the week leading up to Monday’s game against the Seahawks. That being said, coach McCarthy acknowledged that he saw a “big jump” in Jennings health in Saturday’s practice and is optimistic that his top wide receiver will take the field in Seattle.

The Green Bay offense has yet to click like we saw last year, so the return of Jennings can only help. In a pass first offense and against the second ranked running defense (46 rushing yards per game and 2.6 yards per carry), I would feel comfortable starting Jennings this week as you normally would.

There still is the outside chance that Jennings doesn’t play, so rostering James Jones as an emergency option is not a bad idea. The Packers offense is going to get rolling sooner rather than later, and you don’t want to miss out on a big performance. The groin injury is scary, but the potential reward is much greater than the risk in counting on #85.
