Hakeem Nicks to play through foot pain

Sep 1, 2012

Hakeem Nicks plans on playing opening night against the Cowboys on Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean the former University of Carolina star has fully headed from his off-season foot injury.

Nicks admitted to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network that his foot is still hurting, and that he plans on playing through the pain over the next few weeks.

When healthy, Nicks is one of the most dominant fantasy wide receivers and should benefit from even more looks with the departure of Mario Manningham. Unfortunately, it sounds as though he is still hurting and could lack the explosion that afforded him two-staright 100 yard seasons.

He should still be considered a top 10 start this week against the Cowboys, but we recommend tempering expectations until he is pain free.
