Jonathan Stewart (ankle) has been out of practice all week long and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game in Tampa Bay. He has been banged up before, but in 4 seasons, he has only missed 2 games. The Panthers are reportedly preparing for life without Stewart, which would move DeAngelo Williams into a solid RB2, or even low RB1, roll this week in all formats.
The Bucs ranked dead last in the league in 2011 against the run, surrendering not only a league high 156.1 yards per game, but also 26 rushing touchdowns. The Buffalo Bills were the next closest team in terms of rushing scores allowed (19), a 27% drop of from Tampa Bay.
This is a late kickoff on Sunday, which will make life difficult for Williams’ fantasy owners, but based on word out of Carolina, it seems that Stewart is on the wrong side of questionable right now. Check back for status updates, and if Stewart is ruled inactive, get ready for some lofty DWill projections.
