Fantasy owners looking to jump on the high scoring bandwagon of the Detroit Lions offense may need to consider drafting Kevin Smith over Jahvid Best and Mikel LeShoure.
According to a report by Anwar Richardson of mlive.com, Kevin Smith will likely be the opening day starter for the Lions. Richardson writes: “Lions running back Kevin Smith worked with the first team, and looks much stronger than last year. It makes sense that Smith is receiving the workload. Considering Jahvid Best’s healthy is unknown, coupled with Mikel Leshoure’s two-game NFL suspension, Smith likely will be Detroit’s starting running back on opening day.”
If Smith is able to perform well while LeShoure is suspended, it is possible that Jim Schwartz could keep him in the starting role. For that reason, Smith is worthy of a late round flyer.
