Mark Ingram ran well today at Saints training camp, making cuts and running full speed for the first time since his injury shortened rookie campaign in 2011.
According to a report in the Times-Pcayune by James Varney, Ingram is excited about his sophomore season and declared himself 100%.
“It was always my goal to show up for training camp healthy,” Ingram said after practice. “I’m back running fast and cutting at full speed. I feel good.”
The Saints appeared to have a plethora of running back depth last season, with the addition of Ingram via the draft and the signing of veteran speedster Darren Sproles. Injuries to a once stacked backfield decimated the Saints in the playoffs, and was one of the factors that lead to a loss at the hands of the 49ers.
Fantasy owners may want to consider picking Ingram up as a second or third running back in drafts this spring. He is currently rated as the 28th overall running back on Mockdraftcentral.com, and a decent value if he ends up getting the majority of carries this season.
