The Maurice Jones-Drew holdout drama escalated on Tuesday when ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported via twitter that the Jacksonville running back is now open to the idea of being traded after an unsuccessful meeting with owner Shad Khan. Jones-Drew reportedly became upset with Khan’s comments that the “train is leaving the station.”
Jones-Drew wants a new contract that would pay him closer to what the top running backs in the league are currently making, while the Jaguars argue that the former UCLA star is already compensated accordingly.
Twitter and other social media outlets ignited accordingly to the news, with fans from nearly every other NFL claiming that Jones-Drew would make an excellent fit on their respective team.
Despite the excitement, Mike Freeman of CBSsports.com reported a few hours later that there is no way that the Jags will trade the seven year veteran.
