Jones-Drew in for a full workload

Jones-Drew in for a full workload

Sep 12, 2012

Well, that didn’t take long. Maurice Jones-Drew impressed against the Vikings (22 touches for 95 yards), and is now ready for the lions share of the work in Jacksonville. Rashad Jennings suffered what isn’t believed to be a serious knee injury, but is expected to be inactive this week against the Houston Texans.

While the Texans defense is improved behind the pressure of JJ Watt, MJD has punished the Texans on a consistent basis. He has averaged 103 total yards against Houston in his career, with all of those games coming against a Mario Williams led front line. Getting into the endzone isn’t what you pay for from Jones-Drew, but he has reached paydirt more times against the Texans than against any other opponent.

The Jags need to run the ball to melt the clock and remain competitive, so I’ve got MJD as a top 5 RB this week in most formats.

“But he’ll face a ton of 8 man fronts, and thus limit his fantasy output.”

This may be true, but MJD ran for over 1600 yards last season, with no passing game to support him. He has seen 8 man fronts, and beaten them, before, and as long as he is healthy, I am starting MJD as a RB1 every single week.
