Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best will likely start the season on the PUP list due to his lingering concussion symptoms.
If placed on the PUP list, Best would miss the first six games of the 2012 season.
Best, a former first round pick in 2010 after a stellar college career at the University of California, missed the majority of the 2011 season after being placed on the IR on November 25.
Fantasy owners looking at taking Best late as an upside pick may want to reconsider. Conversely, Best landing on the PUP would make Kevin Smith and Mikel LeShoure more valuable in all formats. As of the date of publication, Smith is currently working as the number one running back for the Lions.
