Washington Redskin tailback Roy Helu is suffering from achilles tendonitis according to beat writer Chris Russell. This news comes on the heels (pardon the pun) of the news that Evan Royster appears to be leading the running back competition in Washington.
Helu, a former Nebraska star that rushed for 1245 yards his senior year at Lincoln, ran well towards the end of the seasons after fellow running backs Tim Hightower and Ryan Torain suffered season ending injuries.
Fantasy owners thinking of using a middle round pick on Helu may want to reconsider, as Mike Shanahan is notorious for his unpredictable use of running backs. At his current adp of 65 overall, it makes more sense to use that pick on Stevan Ridley or Donald Brown.
