Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson has been given the starting job by head coach Pete Carroll. Wilson, a third round pick form the University of Wisconsin, beat out high-priced free agent Matt Flynn after a strong preseason performance.
The starting job was though to be Flynn’s after the Seahawks paid the former Green Bay Packer $10 million guaranteed money this past off-season.
As reported by PFT.com, Carroll told reporters via a conference call that Wilson’s excellent play in camp earned the rookie the starting job. “This is an extraordinary kid. He just kept knocking us out with what he brought,” Caroll said “I’ve watched our team respond to him and they’ve taken to his leadership style.”
