San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews participated in practice on Monday, leading to speculation that he could play Sunday against the Raiders.
As reported on CBSsports.com, Mathews is hoping to play this week after sustaining a broken collar bone in the first game of the preseason. Mathews told reporters: “I’m very hopeful. I really am,” “I’ve still got a whole week left to go so we’ll see how it goes.”
We will monitor this situation closely as the week progresses, however, it does sound as though Mathews will be active in week one. The question is how much time will he play, and will he get enough snaps to be worthy of a start.
