With the departures of Jimmy Kleinsasser and Visanthe Shiancoe, the Minnesota Vikings will rely on Kyle Rudolph and off-season acquisition John Carlson.
Both Rudolph and Carlson are better suited as catching tight ends, and could be very active in offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave’s offensive scheme.
Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN reports that Rudolph will be used differently this season. According to Pelissero: “Rudolph (6-foot-6, 259 pounds) struggled at times to get off jams and gain separation as a rookie, but he has such good hands and a massive catch radius he can make plays even when he’s not open. Coordinator Bill Musgrave will detach and motion him all over the field to try to create mismatches.”
