The physical running style of Trent Richardson is what we love and hate about him. It is what makes him successful, but it is also what limits him in practice and puts him at risk of an injury on a week to week basis. He suffered a minor knee injury this past week, but is back on the practice field and appears ready to take on the Ravens in this weeks Thursday night showcase.
The Alabama product has scored three touchdowns over the last two weeks and has recorded at least 18 touches in all three games this season, something he should do again tomorrow night. The Ravens boast a few big names on defense, but there is no doubt that there has been a drop off in production. They rank in the middle of the pack when it comes to fantasy points against by running backs, a stat they typically rank in the top 5 in. The Ravens have faced BenJarvus Green-Ellis, LeSean McCoy, and Stevan Ridley this season, all of whom are ranked below Richardson thus far in most fantasy formats.
I’m using Richardson this week as I would any other week, and not benching him based on what sounds like a tough matchup. The Browns will need to establish a physical run game if they want to keep this game close, a style that plays right into Richardson’s hard nosed style. If they stay competitive, I like Richardson to set a career high in carries this week, something that would excite his owners.
