Vick “still sore” but will play

Vick “still sore” but will play

Aug 29, 2012

Mike Vick‘s ribs are still bugging him, a concern for his fantasy owners as we are 11 days away from live action. The Eagles are setting their franchise QB up with an innovative flak jacket that is personalized just for Vick’s body and his injured ribs.

The good news for fantasy owners here is that the Eagles seem desperate to fix the equipment and not the style of play. The reason Vick is so valuable in fantasy football circles is the same reason some owners avoid him: his escapability (which is a word he pretty much patented) can lead to broken yardage records (ran for 1,000 yards in 2005-2006) or broken ribs. Starting the season with an injury is not ideal, but it can’t come as a surprise. He is determined to play his style of football, and therefore his value in fantasy football leagues is unaffected by this injury.

He was a boarder line top 10 fantasy QB last year despite his TD total decreasing by 11 and his turnover total increasing 9. Last season serves as a floor for his production, and with a motivated DeSean Jackson and a feared runner in LeSean McCoy, it is easy to like Vick as a top 5 fantasy QB by seasons end.
