Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith suffered an ankle injury against the Raiders on Saturday, but avoided a serious injury and did not suffer a broken ankle.
As reported by Chris McCosky of Detroitnews.com, Kevin Smith twisted his right ankle in the third quarter and limped off the field.
“I just got scared being under that pile of big guys,” Smith said. “I was scared it was another high ankle sprain and I know how long it took me to get back healthy from that. It’s not a high ankle sprain, so that’s a positive.”
In a related story, X-rays on quarterback Matthew Stafford’s injured hand were also negative. The former first overall pick from the University of Georgia suffered a contusion to his non-throwing hand.
